Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is distinctly Canada’s largest financial institution, with branches and clients across the globe. Their annual Black History Month Student Essay Competition is held in Canada to celebrate (and encourage youth involvement in) black Canadian history, and invites submissions across Ontario, Nova Scotia and the Atlantic provinces. The competition culminates with a cocktail reception where 3 winning essayists - selected out of 20
finalists - are announced and awarded scholarships. We responded to the priority RBC had placed on creating
engaging material for the competition that is relatable to their audience, re-desiging the event’s digital invitation, posters displaying the finalists' essays, certificates and welcome signage.
